The story. I'm sure he will have other favorite girls in the years to come, but this is honestly one of the sweetest things I've heard.
The process. I printed the photo strip and knew I wanted to use the quote as my title. The rest came together with elements from a SC kit and the new release from Kesiart (available in France on November 9th). Again, a little sewing and giving the ol' layering technique a try.
Here's a scrapbook post while we ride out Hurricane Sandy. Now that the planning and preparing is done, we are home listening to the wind blow. If Sandy is in your neck of the woods, stay safe!
The story. While looking through my iPhoto gallery, I noticed I have a few photos of Andrea at his desk. On school days, we spend time in this room doing homework and this is the view I often have.
The process. What I saw in my mind looked a lot better than what I executed. I did have fun embellishing the heck out of the title. Ha. And, as always, I'm just glad to have put my thoughts and photos together.
The page. Here is one of the fruits from yesterday. A layout about Andrea and his Tae Kwon Do classes. Part of parenting is figuring out when our kids need a little nudge to try something new. When we get it right, it's rewarding for everyone and that's been the case with TKD.
The process. I printed the photo last week and stared at it long enough to have the layout come together in my mind before even getting to work on it. Love it when that happens. I wanted to get messy because I had the luxury of time but settled for misted stars (above) and a little stamping. The neat freak in my is difficult to overcome. Again, the sewing machine is my friend. It is at arm's reach in my work room and seems to be a go-to technique in my recent projects. I had the most fun figuring out the layers of the small cluster on the bottom right corner. I could spend hours "styling" embellishments!
The Making Memories "you rock" tag is one of my first scrapbook purchases back in 2001. So old, in fact, the original adhesive backing had all dried up. I still have a few tags left from that pack and I'm glad I held on to it for...um...eleven years (!) because I like them and obviously still use them. Sparingly! You can see another tag from that pack in action on this layout. What about you? DO old embellishments still make it onto your projects?
The Page : More summer memories. Andrea proposed we go watch the sunset one evening in Biarritz. I was moved by his initiatvie to do something so nice so I jotted down what I remember from that evening. Here are some close-ups :
The process : Well, I wrapped this layout up with a glue stick because of my supply fail. Originally I'd sewn the top part (photo and journaling) to patterned paper but had second thoughts and ended up tearing the patterned paper off and sticking the whole thing onto kraft cardstock. I'm happy to be using the sewing machine. I love the texture it adds to projects.
THE STORY is a simple one. Andrea reads and I love that about him. I also love this photo of him reading. Last week I was on a roll and made three layouts in one day. This is one of them.
THE PROCESS The patterned paper does the heavy lifting. A few stickers and a rub-on, to decorate the place, and some journaling (where I go on some more about reading, Andrea and me). Another pretty simple page as far as pages go.
