Where are my words?

Enjoying spring

Hi there. I've been enjoying spring. The trees and plants keep blooming one after another. Last Friday we went to the Tidal Basin, along with hundreds of other people, to see the cherry blossoms (photo above). There is no doubt why these trees in bloom draw so many tourists to DC, they are beautiful.

I have a bunch of half-written posts in my drafts folder waiting to be published. Funny enough, I've read two posts this week about writer's block. Ez's post reminded me that I'm not alone and Katrina posted the quote that got me here. To this very spot where I say I've been having a hard time finding my words. And that is why it's been quiet around here.

Earlier this week I decided a blog re-design would be just the right project to help me come around. It's time for me to organize my content. Also, I've been receiving many requests for my downloads - apparently not all the links are functioning properly - so I will have a look at that too.

That's where things are for me. Hope you have an awesome weekend!

Un Avant Gout

Spring is around the corner but right now there are a few plants and trees that are a blooming spectacular. Admiring them does not get old but listening to me say hey, look, a magnolia tree! does. Yesterday we took our cameras and set out to document the new blooms in our neighborhood. Everything else still looks very much like winter so these trees are show stoppers.

Isn't it just amazing? You can see the rest of the photos here.

Things I love

Playing Outside

2 This beautifully photographed food blog. She has me in stitches!

3 Her rainbow home page. It is almost as awesome as her work. Almost.

4  A well curated easter egg post. The Gold Leaf Egg is my favorite!

5 A spring festival that begins next week.

I Love Zumba But My Knees Don't | A Layout

Back in January I started going regularly to Zumba classes at my gym. It is the first time since discovering yoga in college that I've been excited about doing exercise. It happened at the right time because I couldn't take putting on another frappuccino-related pound since moving here six months ago.

As a result I have a collection of unflattering, red-in-the-face, sweaty, post-workout photos that I wanted to document along with my thoughts. I placed them all on a 12 x 12 canvas in PS and then I reduced the opacity of the layer waaay back to 50%. I like that the photos take up lots of my page but are toned back enough that my title really stands out.

On a totally un-related note. Half pages. Do any of you make them? I love them. In this case I used my half page for a large photo and typed my thoughts directly on to it.

Ol' Girl : Six Months

It's been six months since we moved in and we are definitely settled. Things are pretty much the same as they were a few months ago. A few things I notice while looking at these photos of Ol' Girl : Photographing interiors is no simple task. On camera my walls look a little empty. The kitchen shelves could use some styling. I'd like to paint the couch legs. (I saw this idea on Young House Love and I like it!) I could be here until tomorrow describing everything still left to do but I said I was going to post photos so here they are! I love this house and love that we get to live in it! Happy Friday.
