Ol' Girl : House Tour, Part I
Monday marks two months since we moved into the house I lovingly refer to as Ol' Girl. It's no secret most everything in the states is bigger, except maybe taxes, in comparison to its European counterpart. Space! It's everywhere! Including this beautiful house. According to the last tenants, the house is considered small and old (built in 1926, hence the nickname) for this area. But for me, coming from a three-bedroom house in Toulouse, the details - arched doors, moulding, transoms and built-ins - and open spaces make living in this house a luxury. Oh, and all those windows don't hurt either.
I promised myself two things when we moved in. First, work quickly to get the house settled. Instead of the usual second guessing of where to place each rug, lamp or picture, just go with it and get it done. Second, use more color. I love how our last house was decorated, but it could have used more color. Color makes me happy, it makes my family happy. I'd like this house to reflect that. Two months into it I can say there's been progress. But before I show you, have a look at what it looked like right before the movers arrived. Enjoy!
Immediately to the left of the front door is the living room. Favorite feature: a working fireplace. Toasty goodness! You can see another view of the living room here.
Photo overkill! I know. I'll continue the house tour in another post. Looking at the photos remind me of how much I just like empty houses. Quiet. Calm. Possibilities.
What about you? Does the idea of starting from scratch terrify or thrill you?

Thank you for this! It's beautiful! Can't wait to see it decorated, too, with my own eyes :-) The boys are gorgeous.

Oh my goodness! I want to move in to your beautiful nest. Can I? Hihi! Anyway, you asked about starting from scratch. I must admit, it's a bit scary at first. But starting from scratch can be a thrilling experience, knowing you'll learn something from it. =)
